Statement
by Alex
Zablocki,
Republican
candidate
for
Public
Advocate
regarding
the
Board of
Elections
decision
to put
Councilman
Bill de
Blasio
back on
the
ballot
for the
September
primary:
"Today the Board of Elections did the right thing by allowing Bill de Blasio to be on the ballot this September. Elections are about choices, not a game of gotcha. Typographical and other technical errors should not deny any candidate the right to run for office and serve the public. As I have said previously, what happened here is proof that our election laws must be reformed in New York State. Candidates with few resources or knowledge of the arcane petition process are denied the right to run for office every year over nonsensical laws that harm the electoral process. I'm happy Democratic voters will have more of a choice when going to the voting booth this September and I hope all candidates can find common ground in calling for real election law reform for our state. Welcome back Bill!"
